I got the 240 trick flow heads and thier intake with no gaskets that intake rocks back and forth there is about. 060 gap. If I pull it to one side now I know the bat wings an .031 gaskets should make up the difference, but I put an old eldebrock intake on that I used before an it sets in there good. What do think go back to summit and try a couple other intakes or hog out that old eldelbrock?
By the way I'm using AR ENGINEERING valley plate and bat wings.

I would, and have, stack multiple intake gaskets to make up gaps when the manifold was cut by someone else work wrench
They come in .030,.060 ands maybe even in .015 thickness from SCE and other gasket companies scope
Good luck, I use Gasket Cinch to hold them together and on the heads up

I ain't up on the bat wings/valley plate but what Cab said: mix/match gasket thicknesses till the ports line up the best on mockup. To go further you can make all the ports on intake/heads, especially the heights to where a horizontle line scribed in dykem across the top and bottom of the ports, the top/bottom lines in the intake are dead even with the top/bottom lines in the heads.

Ya I have various size gaskets
I was going to try clay,b hows that stuff work you're talking about? I know the top of the port is the most crucial

With some moderate porting you would make all the ports the same size/even (within reason) especially the height of the tops of the ports. do a swath of dykem across the top & bottom of the ports. Scribe a horizontle line in the dykem across the top & bottom of the ports in the intake & heads all the way across. On the 4 corner "ends" of the heads/intake do in addition around the "corner" a 90 (1/4 turn) with dykem/scribing & if you visualiaze this, when the intake is set down on the gaskets everything in place your horizontle lines will be hidden & you need the end "turndowns" to wee where you are at to get the right gasket thicknesses so the height of the intake "V" is dead on so that the horizontle lines in the intake match the horizontle lines in the heads so you get a dead on perfect port match.

Might try one of those cheap flex cams and run it down the intake runner

i have the same combination and my intake did the same thing. the intake was resting on the corner edge of the china wall causing it to not sit flush on the intake surface of the heads. i am now using a hughes engine, one piece stainless steel valley cover . i have a .030 superformance gasket on the bottom of the cover and a .015 gasket on the top of the valley cover. that worked well with good port alignment.
