275-60/15 on the back of a B-Body is a nice look with 215 (or 225)-70/15 on the front.

8.5 should work with 275-295 tread width.
5.5 (you sure about that? I would think they'd be 6") would work with 205-225.

To me, a 50-series looks a bit too low-profile on these cars; 60- or 70-series tires just look most appropriate to me.

My deal is to fill the openings, with the nose slightly lower than the tail.

I just put 15x7 & 15x8 wheels with 235/60 & 275/60 tires on a '68 Road Runner, and to my eye it all works perfectly.

do you know the wheel manufacturer? how are you measuring the wheels? width is measured inside-to-inside bead

what is the back space on the rear wheels?

We put 275's on the back of my buddy's 69 charger but afterwards I felt bad because his backspacing was perfect and we could have gone 295's.

"70's era street freak look "
These cars were jacked up to get those big tires on.
Almost to Gasser type set-ups
Not quit street able...
Shackles and air shocks were the norm.
Rear tires stuck out the wheel wells.
Laws were passed that a tire had to be under the fender.
That is when the fender flare started being used.
ICK sick
Today the cars are modified to get the bigger tires inside the wheel well.
Mini tubs and all.
I always liked the "Street Freaks" but they weren't considered safe.

I have mechanical Aptitude.
I can screw up anything.

275/60R15's look great out back. Are you looking for a street/strip type tire or just a regular street rock hard radial?
