Who on here tows a gooseneck race trailer with a pick up with a bed (not a flat bed)?
How much clearance between the bed of the pick up bed and the bottom of the trailer do you run?
I just acquired a 48' gooseneck w/ living quarters and am planning to pull it with a 2006 Dodge 3500 4 wheel drive, standard cab, 8' bed. With no load, the rear end of the truck sits at 59" high. The way the trailer is set up now, there is approx. 8" between the bed and the trailer. Is this enough, or are adjustments needed?

Thanks, Brian

It looks good in the picture! It could probably be better with a 2wd pickup. When you start raising it up for bed clearance without raising the trailer suspension, you will wear back tires on the trailer quick. They pull super nice and you could stand to load the front of the trailer a little to squat the truck so it's level. Just try to keep everything level and you'll be fine. FYI my 2wd '04 Dually is 52-53" to the top of the bed at the tail gate.

I have about the same. I'm careful about getting my truck too much off level with the trailer when turning out. I also have mine converted to a fifth wheel hitch.

While I have a tag trailer my daughter pulls a gooseneck horse trailer with a 4WD Dodge D3500.

As mentioned above the problem can come when the truck and trailer get on a different levels and tilt because of terrain, driveway angles etc.

You just have to be careful as the only solution I know of is a flat bed rather than a pickup bed.

Nice trailer I hope you enjoy it.

8" sounds about right. There's times the bed will get close, but no issues so far.

Thanks for the confidence guys, fingers crossed! Funny thing is, I've worked on tractor/trailers for over 40 year and I don't think anything at all about wheeling a tandom axle, double-wide bunk conventional Freightliner & a 53' trailer down the highway for a road test. My previous race trailer is a 32' tag, only 6' shorter total length than this new GN. It just looks tight to me. All in what you get used to, I guess.
Thanks, Brian

A goose neck or 5th wheel trailer will tow a bunch better than any tag up
My 2006 Ram 3500 4x4 single wheel four door towed my 34 ft. 5th wheel way better than my 24 ft. Pace Shadow up
Let us your results after pulling the first time thumbs
I do have a friend who had several enclosed 24 ft. tag race trailers before buying a new goose neck 48 Ft. really nice race trailer, he had all the commercial endorsement for the really big trucks for his work.
He pick the new trailer up in Denver,CO with his 1995 Ram 3500 5 speed dually extended cab, he hated that trailer in less than five miles according to him when he got home to SO CA confused shruggy

Mr.Cab Racing and winning with Mopars since 1964. (Old F--t, Huh)
