What are the correct style nuts for a 71 Super Bee?
I see some listed on various sites but want to see what is right? The holes in the firewall are bigger than the stud coming out so I would assume they have a decent spin washer on them.
Thanks Ron

I'll see if I can round up some pics. They have about a 5/8" captured washer.

The ones that were on my '71 Satellite have a 7/16" head and about (just slightly under) 5/8" captive washer. I haven't found the correct ones, but I can tell you what *not* to buy. The ones at R/T Specialties are totally wrong. In the pic below, my existing nut is on the left; the R/T one on the right.

If you find the correct ones, please post, thanks.

Roger

Don't know if these are of any sort of help, but here are some pictures with mine in them. These are un-molested originals. Hopefully you can see them well enough in the photos. Otherwise I can try to get some pictures specifically of the nuts in a few days.

same as E body maybe ?

Ones on my former car were a dull silver zinc 1/4-20

Ron , I think I still have some of these around here somewhere if you need them . Be a few weeks before I can get to them though

Bill when the spirit moves you I'll take 4 of those please. I made an order last night with R/T spec. and bought a few different styles but don't think I got those.
Thanks Ron

Wouldn't this be a better way to go since the heater box is held in with 4 nuts??
Thanks Ron

Your right on that fact, I missed that. But is it possible since they sell in quantity of 3 that the 4th nut is different??

Thanks Ron

Be sure to check what your heater box studs are...I'm almost sure mine were 5/16" on my 70...71 may be different... shruggy

And if you look at those links , or any resto links

None of them are specific or correct for a 1971 1972 B Body

We are going off by looks or survivor cars

1971 and later is in fact 1/4-20 with 7/16" hex ----- trust me.

Ron,

Sounds like the ones at R/T Specialties are for 1970 and earlier. They don't specify a year in their link.

Yep those are earlier but these look like the ones Bill Alphin posted and few other's. Problem though you need 4 total.
