EQ mag heads/chebby stud rockers. The Comp Cams 4528 (iirc) plates, some of the (8) were so narrow that the 5/16 pushrods would not fit in the rectangle open ended slot let alone have 10 tho clearance. I bought em from someone & it might be awhile till he is available & I need a set NOW (I'm payin the price for not mocking up from head to toe ahead of time). Any recommendation for another set? (8). thank you for your time. EDIT CC 4825 is the #

Can you just file the slots wider, and polish the slots to minimize wear?

But... how deep is the hardening, will the cut surface be too soft?

I had the same issue. Just gave them a few lite taps with a wedge to give it a little more room.

I tried to bend one slightly & it started to crack then I started to file one & it appeared to be as hard as the file. I'm on my to Speedway to check the (3) offerings they have. It did cross my mind to heat em with the hot wrench but that is alot of time & I dont have a small tip. If the Speedway stuff dont pan out I may just pick out another set at Mancini or similar & keep my fingers crossed.

If a file won't work, just tag them lightly at the sides with a thin blade on an angle grinder. If you can't clean it up with a file at that point, it should still be hard enough to handle pushrod scrub.

at least (6) of the slots (each plate has two) are so narrow/tapered that the pushrod wont even fit in there let alone have 5 tho minimum clearance on each side. multiple people have reviewed that those comp cams #4825 guide plates are junk (tho the material "looks" good but the stamping for the slot, there's an issue in their mfr ing steps) & a blind final inspector could see that they ain't right. I just came back from Horror Freight with an air powered needle filer that I am gonna try & a guy at Summit is gonna work with me on checking another set before he sells em to me (& this set did not come from Summit). I messed up when I did not mockup from head to toe ahead of time.
