Nope Problem is when you get that tall, the aspect makes the tires wide 8"+. 205/75/r15 is a 27 inch tall but the tread is 8"+. Compared to the 195/65/r15, which is a inch shorter about 26" and the tread is about 1/2 more narrow.

BTW I forgot about the tires 165/80/r15...these are most peoples best bet, they are skinny, and ar about 25 1/2" tall. these are readily available, for about $50 and this will be the route I go. Hope this helps....

We used Firestone FR380 205/75/15 on the front. 27.1 tall and it's mounted on a pair of Vintage Wheelworks 15x4 Mags. We went with that tire because it does not have the modern square block profile. It has a sloped shoulder to it and when mounted on a small rim it has a great bulgey look. It also has a nice stiff sidewall to it, which many tires this size do not. Looks aggressive on a musclecar. It's a white wall on one side, but if you use some Kiwi brand, black shoe dye, it will take care of that nicely. The black dye really does work fantastic, although we hadn't applied yet in these photos. FR380 web page

I'm not so sure that would be a speed rated tire, or one designed to support the weight of a heavy car.

215 70R 15 radials in the signature picture At the time I was trying for the stock size at the time, F70 15 but in a radial....
I also have a pair of 28" (27.5" actual) DS2's on 4" wide wheels to try at the track sometime. I'm thinking they will save about 20lbs and might help ET by a few hundredths if I'm lucky. I've driven them on the street just long enough to know I can do it if I have to....but that I don't really want to...

Would someone please tell me why this was moved out of the race section????? Not many outside the race section are using skinny front tires...I posted it in the race only section for a reason. CHIP

Any quality modern tire is rated for at least 100 mph or more.Thats the least. The 165s on my 65 are doing fine. You arent running Bonneville with them and they arent going under a diesel dually.Anyone that sayd they run MT sportsmans fronts on the street and they handle are full of you know what or they drive a staright line on perfect roads.Rocky
