My 70 Charger has the bias XHD springs, however I'm not sure if the tilt on my car is purely because of that, or if the chassis is bent, or both. With these bias springs it tilts left (when looking from behind) correct? Here's a couple pictures, but they only do it justice if you really look.

Yes that is normal with XHD or SS springs. Use above recommendation to correct.

done that to so many over the years, including stock, replacement springs. one very good thing about having torsion bar front suspension !

Is there a certain angle it should tilt with unadjusted torsion bars? Because if you can see the shocks in the pics, theyre extremely uneven, and the tilt is 10x worse in person.

i put the 3400lb set of super stock springs on my car and it tilted the other way. i just turned the pass side torsion bar adjuster tighter and it leveled it all out.

Yep, my super stock springs make the car lower on the passenger side & I adjusted my torsion bars like these guys recommend.

So it's supposed to have the passenger side lower? Because mine is the opposite.

SS springs and XHD springs aren't exactly the same.

I'm not sure how the bias on the XHD springs affects the ride height on each side. If I were you I would look under the car and see if the torsion bar adjuster bolts are in similar positions.

I have XHD's on an E body. This gave me fits. Basically what everybody else said about tweaking the bars.

I recommend going through the ride height adjustment process per FSM and see what it looks like, THEN tweak the driver's side bar if necessary.

The 5 leaf spring is on the right in the XHD setup. I have no experience with SS springs.

I also have the XHD leaf springs in my 69 Dart. Part numbers P4510268-9
They too have given me fits as far as a back end tilt. Both springs are 5 leaf, but the lengths and position of the leafs vary between the two.

The back end on my car was about 1-1/4" higher on the passenger side. This caused the driver's front to nose down.

I finally decided to buy one more driver's side spring so that I could run a match set. When I installed the new matching spring, I still had a passenger side that sits higher that the driver's side. Just not as much as it was before.

Im not worried about the springs causing the tilt, as thats most of their point if you plan to launch it off the line. Im just worried that it could be the chassis too, my shop told me the chassis was bent, but after seeing their work im not sure if they actually checked or just saw it.

I wouldn’t sweat it just yet. They may not be up on these cars and to joe average a car sitting like that must be bent. It’s just one of the many subtle details mopar guys know and generic people don’t.

Get a FSM and set the height and go from there. You might find it has been set weird at some point in the last half century.

the factory build process was way off from car to car, quality control wise, and over the [approximate] half century since built, who knows what has happened. even though it may appear bent, it could still be within the factory tolerance. [plus or minus 2" laugh2]
just an example. the local GM dealership got a new frame machine for their body shop a few years back. when the machine rep was setting up the machine and teaching the techs how to operate it, they randomly picked one of the higher priced 4WD chevy pickups to use as a vehicle to demonstrate the machine's operations. to their great surprise, it was found to be 5/8" out of square ! at first, it was thought the tech entered the wrong info, but after several attempts to see why this was showing damage, it was found it just so happened it was built this way ! it went down the road good, and was perfectly in specs for a 4 wheel alignment. and that is with precision build robots of today, plus the myriad of quality checks done along the line today, vs the "looks ok to me" checks of 50 years ago. the looks on everyone's faces when this truck was measured was priceless ! of course, i had to interject it was only a chevy, what did you expect ? biggrin stirthepot

Because its a mopar , not a tube chassis car, the rear springs are not the same left & right, old school technology so the car would launch even. Tube Chassis car uses a anti Roll bar to keep car from leaning hard to the right during launch.

Personally I would find other, more modern options or ideas so the car does not have to lean over. Like the anti roll bar or spring set up.

A car does not have to lean over to launch straight. Also it can still have a stronger right side rear spring to compensate for axle housing torque but the ride height does not need to be crooked. Spring rate and spring position are 2 different things.

You can still run a Super Stock spring, which I'm a fan of by the way but nobody says you must run them AS IS out of the box. Arch or dearch them to suit your ride height and so the car sits level. Still run the stronger one on the passenger side.

One preloaded torsion bar can't do much for braking and handling either.

The reason the whole car is tilted is bc it torques to the right (clockwise from behind) when launched. This compensates for it and theyre obviously stiff too.

The green brick used to run pass side spring on both sides. Dearched and matched arch. Just a thought.
