Guess what... after all these years, I just discovered that the basket-case Dart (literally, it was stripped and all the parts in boxes and bags) came with the wrong windshield! It's an inch taller than the opening in the car, let alone the thick rubber gasket seal. I kept staring at it, thinking I put the seal in backwards or something obvious, but the measuring tape doesn't lie. It is definitely NOT going in today rant

I can only assume that the PO included in the pile of glass a windshield for a sedan and not my '72 2-door hardtop (Swinger). It's "close" when eyeballed, the curvature and the width looks correct but it is definitely too tall. shruggy

Tomorrow I'll call local glass shops and see what THIS screwup is going to cost me... they go for around $189 on Ebay but the shipping is horrendous. Sigh.

The sedan glass is taller.

If it is in good shape, you should be able to sell it, the 4-door glass can be hard to find.

I picked up spares for Valiant & Sport Satellite when the opportunities came up, I need one more spare B-body unit that is tinted - just in case.

That's what I figured, thanks for confirming it smile There are different part numbers for the hardtop, too.

It has a couple of small but long scratches that I would tolerate, but probably not someone who pays for it wink

The back glass is the correct size, but has several long deep scratches (on the inside) right in the middle, and they're very visible when the light is shining across them. I don't remember them being this bad when I washed them and put them aside a couple of years ago. Oh well. Time to buy a new back glass also!

I have lots of 2-door hartop glass laying around... whistling
