340Scamp OP mopar 3 Joined: Apr 2008 Posts: 401 Western Colorado	I thought the first year for the 400 was in 1973 but I found a 400 that has a cast date of 10-8-71. When did the 400 big block come out? Thanks.

AndyF I Win A Joined: Jan 2003 Posts: 31,049 Oregon	The big font 230 blocks are the early castings. Some of them had extra thick main webs and get a premium price from racers. Mopar started to cast the 400 blocks in the summer of 1971 for the 1972 model year.
