This year is only the second year since 2007 that I have missed everyday either competing, crewing or following the route.08 I missed and my wife said never again would I not go at all.LOL. Life happened and I didnt make a single day.West coast HR has had Race weekends with low attendance.May it go that far west I doubt it.But I never thought next year would be where it is.That said I will be flying in and doing the rental car thing.Rule one.If you aint there on Friday you did nothing. To pull into the Hotel parking lot on Thursday is win Number one.Not about winning your class its more about you testing you and your car.If you live close just go.No regrets. You will have some fun and some not so fun days. You will make life long friends and a memory of a lifetime.get off the porch dad always said.

I thought 2018 was close. This definitely has my interest, I know I won't be fast but I've always wanted to go.

Got it. Expect some miles...

I have in the past done at least one 500-mile weekend hitting two tracks between Saturday & Sunday. Not recently, but it's one of the reasons Drag Week has always interested me.

33hours 1 way from my house. I was planning on going next year, but I may have to wait for it to move a little further West. The car will be ready, but we'll see how work (time off) looks next year. smile

If I can get my cuda somewhat done over winter, then I'm entering. It's close enough to me I can drive it there or get towed home laugh2 Have a relative near the middle of the 4 tracks who may enter also.

So be it. tonguue

Wouldn't it be better to run a specific type class instead Street Machine even though you are out gunned? The class cars get to run first so you could make a run early and hit the road. Could be an advantage if they decided to be cruel with the route and make everyone drive the DC beltway. Might be other perks for class cars also?
Just a thought.

For those talking about going, you better make the commitment now, and stick to it. If you think it's easy, it is not. For those complaining about the distance to get there, Billy drives from Arizona every year no matter what. Other ship their car across the globe. For those that plan BBQ joints to eat at along the way, you'll be lucky to eat a roller dog at the next gas station. Drag Week is brutal. Even in a simple parade car, it's tough. Those that make it look easy, really work there ass off, and it's not shown in the coverage. For those that do make it all the way through, you have a experience of a life time, and the personal satisfaction is huge. Nothing better than finishing the week off with the new friends you meet for a good meal.

Two of my friends teamed up this year Rod was
driving his nice Dart in SB NA class.. and Dale
was the trunk rat.. Rod came in 8th in his class
so they did OK.. they missed 95% of the rain
but they were MOVING the whole time.. some were
not so lucky.. both have been multiple times..
I believe Rod has been on everyone

I told my wife last night I want to do this. My car has been down too long and I'm hoping to get it back together before the snow flys, I'm close. I wish it had been together all the years it was in my backyard. I am actively looking for a trailer.

Rod, Dale and Rick ran class so we waived at them as they drove out of the track on Monday. The rain came while SME was in the lanes. We had to pack up in the rain and drive in most of it.

Clark set his wallet on its edge in the motel that night and the next morning it was sitting in a puddle.

Most rain in one day of any of the five drag weeks I have rode on.

I tried to sign up this year and will try again next. I have already raced at every track but Virginia. Trying to talk a friend with an alter wheel base car to man up! He’s always telling me it’s a pump gas street car! Open headers, so! It’s only 1000 miles!

This years registation sold out in something like 7 minutes. As soon as they announce registration is open, it gets filled up.

They have yet to turn anyone away because everyone has yet to show up. They have sold 400 cars out for 3 years now and still not had 400 on day 1 even after taking all the people that showed up unregistered.

If I was gonna do it, I'd enter a class. Get there early, make your pass and get on the road to the next track. Seeing them at Darlington last week sold me on that idea. The eliminator guys are a huge group and they have to wait for the class cars to make a couple runs before they can.

It's an expensive commitment too...around $3k to do it.
