Hey gang
Been a while since we lost HEMI FRED
I came across some photos of when I visited him--he took me downtown Philly to get some real good stuff to eat
He was a gracious host

I think of him from time to time while working on my Dart. The Strange front brakes on it came from Fred, he bought them for his S&M Duster but for some reason they wouldn't work.

What became of his cars and parts?

Last time I spoke w/ Fred was at Carlisle a few years ago. We had a mutual friend who I'd lost contact with and Fred gave me the lowdown on where he ended up after leaving my area.

I was at Atco when he crashed the S&M Duster. The car went straight up in the air and landed on the guardrail. I walked over to his pit after he got towed back. From what I could tell, he was a little shaken up but handled it like a boss and almost made it seem as if it was no big deal. I'll always remember that!

Great guy. I filmed that crash from behind and gave him the footage. Car leaned and stayed on the rear bumper and came down on the wall and rode it a hundred yards or so.
That track always bit like that.

I handled porting the Hemi heads --he put them on then next pass ate that wall--We traded out on an engagement ring I had picked out--he actually paid some cash and a pile of jewelry for that S&M Duster way he told me anyway
The shop he and his Dad ran was old school place

Never met him in person, but we traded a few e-mails. Seemed like a great guy to me.

I remember selling Fred a set of polished Super Trick fronts years ago for one of his cars. We stayed in for a few years after the sale. Nice man, with plenty of stories angel

A few years ago he posted a long list of parts for sale. Went to his house and got an education on pro Stock from the 70's.

I met him many many years ago at the Bob George Mopar race at Keystone. I think he only made 1 pass all weekend and sat by his trailer and BS'd all weekend. He like myself enjoyed spending time at the track racing AND BS'sing. LOL

I think I met Hemi Fred through Stewart Pomeroy. I met him in person at the 2008 Hemi Reunion. I think it was the next year I went up to Carlisle and the York US 30 reunion. Fred told me to stop in and say Hi! I walked in with Dick Oldfield and Fred saw Dick and totally never saw me. When I got back to Dallas Fred sends me an e-mail asking why I didn't say Hi. LOL!
