The 750 you have should work fine. Rather than buying another carb invest in a A/F meter and a tuning kit for your Edelbrock. If you really have to buy a carb a 850 Thermoquad will give you the best of both worlds IF you tune it properly.

So how much would a 1.48 venturi 1.79 throttle blade carb support..... asking for a friend
not to be a smart a$$ but it really depends. the numbers you gave are odd. what carb is this?

Must be a Braswell 4825... Is it a 2-circuit or 4-circuit?

a stock 440 is probably a 550cfm engine at best. with that 1411 i'd change the metering rods to 70x47's and call it a day. true cfm on that carb is less than 750 and probably about 700-710.

I've found on these carter/edelbrock carbs that the timed port for the vacuum advance will actually pull a little more vacuum than the manifold port at cruise and this can effect driving if not managed when using a vacuum advance. i'm not advocating or even going to to get into the manifold vs timed ports for vacuum advance; either will work. I've also noticed that these 600 and 750 edelbrocks want a lot of jet area vs their old original counterparts. I have the old performance jetting tips from mopar for the '67 HP440 and they won't work with the 750 edelbrock. I don't think the 800's have this issue. I do believe the real issue with these carbs is not air flow but fuel flow/management. I don't think the edelbrocks are made as good internally as the original carters but they do have a place and i'll continue to use them.
