This seat is in my 73 Cuda. I'm trying to put on new covers and the new covers are different

The new covers have a different contour to the sides and seems like they need more padding.

could be just that your foam is deformed/flattened if you didn't replace the foam pads

You have the proper seats for the car. Someone put a "funky" seat cover on your buckets. Remove them & install your correct repro covers. The foam for the 72-74 E-body seats is not being repopped yet. If you need foam, you may have to call an upholstery shop....

Thanks Stroker,
The old covers sure look like they've been in there a long time and the foam matches the contour of the old covers. Ya I know they don't repop the foam. Guess I'll play with trying to add some foam to them.

Your seats actually look to be in pretty good shape. When I re-did mine, I was worried about not being able to get the new foam. I wound up just recovering them over the old foam, and they turned out very well. Peel the old covers and have a look. You may be surprised...

Those are the wrong covers. There is a extra panel added with a French seam.

Maybe the covers are meant for adding a little more side bolster?

Well I got the new covers on. They don't look too bad. One thing I did find out was that the cloth slots that the listing wires go into are made too long to allow a good "tuck" of the cover. I had to sew them about a quarter of an inch shorter and that helped with the fit.
