swaping out a differential this weekend and my question is..... do you torque them down to a specific torque or just crank the nut down as tight as possible??..... I don't want it to leak

The spec is 45 ft lbs but 1st make sure the 3rd member is seated all the way around & do tighten in a crisscrossing pattern so it pulls down even

you're welcome bro. What ya using for gasketing? I like a felpro gaskset with some chassis grease on both sides of it. It seals good(there's no real pressure there) & if I do alot of gear swapping it is reuseable & cleaning RTV from around each & every one of those studs is a REAL PAIN

I use RTV. No leaks ever. To get the old stuff off the threads just use a rag like you were polishing your shoes. Takes the stuff right off.
