Just wondering if anyone has done a ‘back to back’ test of the MW aircleaners vs say a 14x2 K&N or similar?

Dyno or track?

I'll chip in here as I have some experience with this comparison. I have not tested on a dyno or track, but I can tell you for sure, VERY noticeable improvements using dual K&N 60-1330 7" X 3" K&N air cleaners in replacement for the original style max wedge air cleaners with K&N filters inside. These fit great inside the max wedge hood dual 8 inch holes under the hood scoop. They do stick through the hood slightly, but plenty of clearance to the hood scoop. Best option I could figure out for fun street driving, and would work fine for racing also. You could use the 60-1320, 2 inch tall filters also, if you have a stock hood with no holes for the hood scoop and velocity stacks. Original max wedge air cleaners are pretty restrictive at high RPM in my experience.

Here is some helpful info also in a recent post:

On my 63 330 I run the repro MW air cleaners with K&N air filters. When I swapped to the repro MW velocity stacks that seal to the holes in the hood under the scoop, the car picked up 0.3 sec and 2mph over the 1/4 mile, with no other changes.

I'd be interested to try the K&N 7"x3" air cleaners, as the velocity stacks only have a mesh screen to stop big bits going into the carbs.
