Anyone recently pick up a new Tuff wheel- going on my 72 A body.
Doesn't presently have one so will also need to pick up a "can"
Anyone happy with the one they got?
Prefer the leather rather than foam....
thanks

the one on pic is the cheap Grant version. Incorrect grip, depth and size, allmost 15". Was the only available for years

the one offered by dale's cuda shop ( I guess more vendors around too ) is more correct on grip, depth and size ( around 14" ), but also double of the price.

The spokes cut outs are still inaccurate, but only noticeable side by side against an original one

I used the "up to 30%" deal from Classic Ind- Tried to order a "New" Mopar Authentic Restoration wheel- discontinued- Ordered a GT3 Leather 15" - can be used as replacement if have can but I had to order adapter. It is not a true restoration piece- But my car is a driver not a show car. I'll let you know how it is- Problem is the Horn switch was back ordered--- but the 30% ran out Sunday at midnight- I hope I didn't make a mistake. Did actually get the 30% off. A car I bought had the Grant wheel- foam- very cheap horn set up- looked OK

The PG Classics wheel is decent looking. They need to address a couple issues with them though. twocents

1. The horn switch mounting holes are threaded metric. Trying to retap the holes to reuse the stock mounting screws isn't easy.

2. The polishing job on the spokes is pretty lame. Lots of sanding scratches. I ended up sanding the spokes on mine so they looked uniform...instead of trying to finish the polishing job. I didn't want to damage the leather grip by trying to polish right up to the edge.

As far as the "can"(Tuff Wheel adapter) is concerned...

If you are looking for an original adapter, make sure the internal splines have a "master spline". The trucks used an almost identical adapter but those don't have a master spline. The truck adapter won't fit over the steering shaft without it.

I bought a reproduction Tuff Wheel adapter at the Mopar Nats last year. Once I got it home, I found out that it is slightly warped where the base is welded. I'm not sure if all the repros are like this or if I got a blem. Just something to think about...
