I have a block that doesnt oil the valvetrain through the camshaft oil passages.

Do any of you guys clock the bearing so that the oil feed to the journals is partly blocked to restrict oil? If so, how much?

Im gonna put bearings in this block and wondered if this is a good idea.

I dont.. if I want to reduce the oiling I do it
at the block(where the heads bolt on OR where
the rocker shaft bolts on) this is on a SB
wave

It already has the valvetrain oil restricted through a separate passage (aftermarket block)..i was considering clocking and therefore restricting oil to the journal for less bleeding there at the cam..

A 1/16" feed to the cam journals that ain't feeding anything upstairs is plenty (1/8" in the (2) that (normally) feed the heads is adequate). If starting from scratch you could drill/tap the vertical passages under the mains then install a setscrew drilled to .0625". In your case just guestimate how much of the hole you want covered/uncovered. Its worthwhile to do as cam bearings leak alot of oil & especially you are in a position now to correct it. every bit helps.

Just drill a hole in the cam bearing the size you want and clock it there.

If its restricted now whats the oil pressure now..
I like to restrict the oil at the rocker oil holes
because they are easy to change if I want more
or less and I dont have to tear the engine down

No oil pressure yet as its an unused, unassembled block. The valvetrain restrictors are .040.

How big of a hole you guys using? Im not running very much spring pressure as Im using a flat tappet.

I'm full time feeding my heads with 1/16" which MAY (not sure yet) be slightly too much

I wouldn't worry about the stock cam bearing installed correctly affecting oil pressure, your block doesn't have any oil passages in it going up to the top of the block now, correct? Even if it did I wouldn't worry about, you can turn the cam bearing about 120 degrees to use one of the rocker arm oiling passages only to oil the cam scope shruggy
l have made the mistake of trying to limit oil to the camshaft by turning the cam bearings so only 1/3 of the stock oil holes was expose to the cam in the past, not worth doing in my opinion now tsk twocents

I have oiled both cyl. heads rockers with one .040 hole. On a street car that sees a lot of miles. But generally one .040 restrictor to each head. And the cam bearings I usually drill a .093 hole and line it up to hole in the block to restrict oil to the cam journal.
