Ummmm- one of my favorite threads ever. Am I just tech challenged or is it gone? Even if it went sideways, it is too valuable to kill. What happened? where is it? Can it be edited and reposted?

I wasn`t following it that closely but I read someone complained that their pics were being used without their permission. Maybe that is what happened to it. I don`t know. I enjoyed the old pics too.

It was moved to the vault. And yes it was moved because of a complaint of using photos apparently.

I clicked the link and it says I don`t have permission to view.

Same here- criminal. Hope the person enjoys keeping the photos to themselves.

Someone was posting photos from a commercial site. Assume the person who was objecting was the owner of said photos from what the way he replied. Thus it was moved to the vault. Although I glanced through it and did not see any watermarked photos, but apparently came from a commercial site

Tried to remove the copyrighted pictures in the thread,

But there were just way too many, so were watermarked and some were not.

When I get a copyright violation I can't just ignore it if I want the site to stay open.

Every moparts member on sign up agrees to NOT post any copyrighted material.

In other words you can only post pictures that you take or have permission to.

"Found on the Internet" does not give permission

Shouldn't be on the internet for anyone to see then. Don't want them shared, don't put em out there. A watermark ought to be good enough.

Most of the photos in that thread were Lynn Morton's. When Lynn first shared them online, they were all watermarked...and the watermark subsequently cropped off. The poster of that thread is usually the one doing the cropping...notice how he didn't give any credit to Lynn until someone mentioned they were Lynn's photos. After that he began posting the watermarked versions.

I only checked out the post a few times and I know I saw some pictures that shouldn’t have been there.

I recently asked the OP a technical question about the photos on the thread, the answer surprised me, and the OP in his reply, mentioned the photographers name. It sure seemed odd, guess we enjoyed a nice freebie at someone else's expense.

I guess questions have consequences .
