Is there anything special about a 63 Max Wedge oil pan?

I've been tasked with finding a proper oil pan for this Sport Fury. Was the pan specific to the MW or will commonly found pans interchange?

The 1962,63 and 1964 M.W. oil pans are for those motors only, they have a longer sump along with the those stock dang 1/2 air sucking oil pickups tsk They held another quart of oil also, five quarts instead of four quarts like all the other BB in those cars shruggy
When I raced my original 1963 415 HP M.W. Belevdere in NHRA stock classes I ended up using a stock OEM 1966 to 1969 street Hemi oil pan and pick up up
They are deeper, hold another quart of oil and they don't look stock either shruggy But they sure do work well and they allow you to use the stock Mopar windage trays for better oil control and increased HP above 5000 RPM thumbs

Thanks for the info.

It is an original owner car and some restoration shop sold off the old pan and pick up years ago. The car is in excellent shape other than the mismatched oil pan.

As stated the swinging pick-up and original MW oil pan is big money...There's a bunch of beat up pans for sale here and there finding a pristine pan at a reasonable price will keep you busy for a while...

I thought the later MW motors had a baffle similar to the later Hemi pans. I use a MP repro 70/71 6qt Hemi pan, and it has a baffle front and rear.

the M.W. motors where made from mid 1962 to early spring of 1964, they all used the same oil pan in the pictures along with the air sucking 1/2 NPT swinging pickup down
All the M.W. oil pans did have internal slosh acceleration and deacceleration baffles in them up
All the other early passenger car BB oil pans had nothing in them like most C body oil pans are down
The stock 1966 and up Mopar BB windage tray will not fit into a stock M.W. oil pan without denting the front of the pan under the timing cover, trust me on that one hammer shruggy
I'm getting ready to assemble a 1963 Fury that will have the 1966 and later B body K member so the later headers will fit better and that ends up sliding the motor back about 1.5 inches and lowers it also for better traction and handling devil up

Yeah, I slid a 69 K frame under my 65 Belvedere to ease engine fitment. smile

With the MW car being a nicely restored original owner car I doubt seriously that the cost of the pan will be a major issue. He's fairly aware that it;ll have a price tag on it.

Do NOT use a original swinging pickup, a stock 1970/71 Street Hemi pickup should work in that pan, you might need to tweak it a little and maybe even need to shorten it a tiny bit to get the distance, less than 1/4 inch is what I set them at up, off of the bottom of the pan correct scope

You be wrong on that down
They all sucked air when low on oil or under hard acceleration or hard stopping shruggy Trust me on this, been there, done that and learned about that the hard way whiney
