I have a 70 Challenger convertible with AC that originally came with an automatic. 30 years ago I put in a pistol grip 4-Speed. I'm trying to get the car back to the original or correct condition with keeping the 4-speed. I had come across the correct 70 340 standard carburetor that was in fantastic restored shape at a ridiculously low price that I bought but it was a California carburetor the car is not. When looking up correct part numbers it looks as though there's no part number for a standard with AC I guess they never came with it. I don't want to put the California breather in the valve cover. can I just block those lines at the carburetor. Is there that much of a difference or should I just get the non California standard 70 carburetor?

Yes you could not get AC w the 4 speed. A Cali carb will definitely run cleaner than the standard one....but w todays gas will it work right? I'm finding more and more that todays gas and carbs are just not compatible. Todays gas is formulated to run in a closed system under 40 or more psi.

The valve cover breather is probably just a better designed oil vapor separator than the 49 state one.

Take care,
Rick

That's not true!

The only single four combo that is not available with AC is a 440 with a manual trans.

For a non-California 1970 340 4 speed WITH or WITHOUT AC you need a 4933S

Heck I might even have one.

Which carb number did you buy 4936? I'm looking for a late 69 4936 carb.

Morty has the right number for the Non-CA carb
