car is a 72 satellite sebring, i am using the stock tank an the stock-type sending unit (with 3/8 fuel outlet).

im running full exhaust so mounting it to the frame rail is not an option ...

my best guess whould be the flat area above the rear axle. any objections? other ideas?

What pump do you have? I have mine mounted there. The biggest problem is it is higher than the fuel level and on some pumps this will be hard on them. They can actually not pump at times because they run out of prime.

Allen Here's a novel idea, let's not throw a bunch of parts at the car hoping it will fix the problem and instead spend a little time diagnosing it first. Life was a little easier when I was just a wrench.

It will be hard on the pump. If it looks like the holley blue style get rid of it. Too noisey, they do run dry and lose prime sometimes.

If you have flowmasters it maybe possible you will not hear the pump. But anything less, it will drive your passengers (if not you) nutty.

what would be a good place then? should be close to the tank, though, shouldnt it?

I mounted mine near the passenger side front leaf spring mount. Mine is the noisy holley blue, and is the most hiddeous sounding thing you could immagine until you start the car. Fortunatly my 528 hemi drowns the holleys sound.

electric pumps are designed to PUSH fuel , best is if it's within 3 feet of the fuel source , the closer the better .

Started out with the “Blue” pump, way too loud. Replaced it with a “Gearator”. Under the passenger seat was the olny place that worked on mine.

Thats a clean install there!

If you are going to lay it on the side like that there are two other areas you can mount it.

Above the leaf spring behind the axle or in front of the spring hanger

On my RR (Carter pump) it's mounted ahead of the gas tank; hasn't been a problem. On my Duster (Holley Blue) it's mounted on the R/R frame rail inboard of the ft spring mount area; no problems there either, and the car runs the Dynomax bullets.
Both pumps make noise, but it doesn't bother me and it's not very audible with the engine running.

Boy , I spent hours on this subject not too long ago ..

I mounted mine on the rear framerail see pic ..

I built an enclosure to protect it against burnouts

I think it should work really well .

As I was demoing a 71 car last week I realized that the emissions canister behind the rear driver wheel is an awesome spot a 71 tank even has all the necessary lines that you can use as a pickup , return , etc .. This is if youre gonna deviate from the standard emissions and venting vapor collector , whatever ..

I used an aeromotive inline , and an inline inlet filter ..

Next setup will be behind the rear driver wheel .. If your car is a 72 you may not have the provisions for a 71 splashield .. ?
And the vapor collector on a 72 is usually mounted behind the rear shock frame ( might be called something different , im not getting my parts book out now )
