I think all E bodies did. A guy sent me a 70 RR ECS tube and gasket to duplicate. The original was distorted and deteriorated but looks to be identical to the one I do for E bodies.

I know all 71-74 B bodies have these just like E bodies. Was it just 70 B bodies with these? Or this person seems to suggest that just 70 B bodies with a "California Emmisions" had these ECS tubes.

Think some A bodies have these too. Was it a 1970 and later thing an all models?

Federal (49 state) didn't use the vapor seperator but as previously mentioned the hole was punched & it uses a block off plate...So your gasket is still needed... E bodies were basically the same deal, the vapor seperator was California only... But the hole was punched & the block off plate had the vapor vent tube passing through it...

Great info!

Maybe then in 71 they all used the ECS? Cause my 71 Challenger, made and lived all it's life in MI, has the ECS thing in the trunk.

PS Does the unit in my picture look factory or was that one side cut off? I think the one in my Challenger is symetrical.

71 Evap Control became 50 states..

Don't know about that lopped off area, never seen it on E bodies which I work with more than B bodies, I've worked on a fair number of 70 B bodies & seen the vapor seporator/block off plate but never restored that part so I haven't noticed..Funny Moparts forces you to look at stuff that was never that important in the past...

More good info

And ACTUALLY that part is from an A BODY. Seems I had 2 guys coming at me with the same ECS gasket need. The nasty gasket in the picture is off a 70 RR. I have it stapled to the E body gasket I do to check and show the similarity.

The tube again is from an A body but again the gasket seems to fit (and overhang by a bunch just like in my Challenger) but the flat edge looks odd. Upon close examination it doesn't APPEAR to be saw cut. Looks factory?

According to the parts book the vapor seperator gasket is the same for all 1970 models with EEC.

Were you the one looking for small plastic parts to reproduce?

My 71 Scamp had ECS. It was built in Windsor, Ontario Canada.

Are those tubes on the inside or outside of the trunk? I don't remember ever seeing anything like that on my 6 cycl Scamp and dart. 73 and 72. US made.

I was asked to contribute money to help solve the civil unrest in Egypt, but I suspect it's some sort of pyramid scheme.

In 72 the design of the vapor seperator was changed & no longer intrudes on the trunk, instead it sits under the kicked up area above the rear axle...Oh BTW the gas tank was redesigned too...

For 1970 it was called ECS (Evaporative Control System) it was also called EEC (Evaporative Emission Control)

In 1971 it was called NOX (Nitrous Oxide Emission Control)

The setups were completely different.

NOX is a completely different system that has nothing to do with the vapor recovery system attached to the fuel tank & bowl vent of the carb....NOX is created in the combustion chamber when combustion tempratures exceed the critcal threshold...

BTW 71 still had evap emmission control...As did 72...And 73...Oh 74 had it too..So did 84, 94 & 04
They also all have some form of NOX control...
