As you're painfully aware, proper preparation and quality materials are the key to a quality, long lasting result. You need to remove old paint on your headliner trim, and thoroughly clean the door panels. There are several good products out there to do both. Try doing a search...others will chime in with their experiences.
1970 Plymouth 'Cuda #'s 440-6(block in storage)currently 493" 6 pack, Shaker, 5 speed Passon, 4.10's 1968 Plymouth Barracuda Convertible 408 Magnum EFI with 4 speed automatic overdrive, 3800 stall lock-up converter and 4.30's (closest thing to an automatic 5 speed going)

SEM, Dupont vinyl color, and PPG, all offer good paints. Prep is extremely important. Especially since the panels have been painted and flaking/pealing off.
I agree Dupont&PPG pints and quarts can be made to order just like paint to get the right shade.SEM spary cans are goog but limited to the colors they offer. Only way I have been able to clean old paint or dye off the plastic was laqure thinner.Maybe someone else has an idea. I would wash with dish soap to try and get the oils off then the wipe with the laqure thinner and wait a day or two. Spray with Bull Dog adheasion promoter then the dye.

I just did door panels for my 74 RR clean and scrubbed about 4 times then wipe clean with lacquer thinner, sprayed with rattle can adherer, sprayed with rattle can primer for plastic, then with my sparyed gun painted them with dupont interior paint, mixed at local parts store, all the products I purchase from the paint or auto store were for doing plastic panels, paint was about $46 bucks a pint, not cheap but they look like new, and you would never know they were ever black panels, I painted them white, and will probably do the rest of the interior trim the same way. one happy camper here, main thing is cleaning them, take your time and do it right.
