B Block in an A body...only 2 ways to go, underchassis or fenderwell...pluses and minuses to both depending on street driven or not. Some people drive fenderwells on the street but the exhaust system can be unsightly but the maintenance on engine/trans components is far easier than underchassis. Underchassis are somewhat "cleaner" from a traditional engine compartment standpoint and exhaust system is easier but install and maintenance on engine and trans is a NIGHTMARE...IMHO...TTI's underchassis are what we have on our BB Duster...nice headers...but wholly jeez!!! And don't even ask about starter R&R... panic

I love my Hooker fenderwells. They aren’t in the way when doing maintenance. I have 205/65/15 front tires. Have never tried to put anything else on there so I can’t say if they’ll fit with your tires.

I have the big 2 inch to 2 1/8 TTI headers on my Duster. It has taken some time to figure it all out but I think I have a system now that allows me to take the car apart and put it back together. I had to build some tools and fixtures to make it all happen. Basically the front suspension has to come off and then the headers come out the bottom. Or you can drop the entire engine and trans out the bottom with the headers attached.

I used Proparts semi-fenderwell on my 9 second Dart. IIRC 2 tubes go through the fenderwell on the drivers side and one tube on the passenger side.

iagreeThe only issue I have is the tight fit with the no logo Indy cast valve covers, had to notch the outer edge for two tubes on the passenger side.

Funny this came up right now...I'm in the designing stage of building a 67 Dart and I'm hung as whether to go stroker small block or big block...one of the deciding factors is headers... work

How fast you want to go would be my biggest concern. If you are happy in the 10's and slower a small block stroker in a 67 Dart is the smart choice. Lean on it a little harder and you are in the 9's.

I have a low deck big block with Indy heads and have had every fender well header made for these cars as I hate fighting headers on a race car.headman made great power but tire clearance was very limited. Went to hooker fender wells and we're ok but I needed a bigger tube header, went to Mazzolini propart header and made much more power but a pain to work on. I finally ponied up the money and had some made locally. 2 1/8 to 2 1/4, expensive but easy to work on every part of the engine and transmission and can now run a 27" tire. We

Yep the headers made a big difference and then struggled putting the power down but has run 9.50 @140 with 1.27 60 in real good air.

This pic was second week of February at Sanoma and the air was below sea level. I think the highest effective was was 200 feet. Normally run in Bakersfield and DA is usually 1500 to 3000 effective. I usually run 9.60s & 70s at home.

IMO. The under the body headers look nice. They are the traditional fit. What they do do is put your pipes and collectors right next to the transmission providing a wonderful heater for your transmission. It also makes it nice and tight to get the starter in. Not to mention those nicely bloody knuckles you can get. Don't forget any electric lines that can melt and for those with a push button transmission you have to protect the shift cable from melting. In regards to a transmission blow shield you basically at this time have to run a hard cover. Which can not be installed with the engine and transmission bolted in place in the car (major work). Soft blankets can melt without proper insulation (I am working on this).
Fender well headers can limit front tire size and may rub a little. Generally not enough to effect steering control. The do get all the hot pipes away from your transmission. They do give you room to work on your transmission. Electric lines, shifting cables, and transmission fluid lines are out of danger from being melted. Soft transmission blankets can now be used more easily than a hard blank since you do not have to unbolt the transmission and engine to install them. robinhoodblankets.com makes the ultimate soft blanket for fender well header cars.

Those custom fenderwell headers turned out great I was never a fan of the hooker fenderwell headers that I ran with my A body in the past.
