Was at Walmart today to buy some Freon for a project. They have a 12oz can for $5 = Floron 134a, and they have a 12oz can for $15 = synthetic refrigerant R134a. Besides the $, whats the difference???

You were supposed to be certified years ago.Had to take a test when i was at the shop like 25 years or so ago to do AC ans supposdly to buy freon.Never was asked about it.Going to 134 was one of the biggest jokes ever.Wonder what they will come up with when the patents run out on it.Rocky

← Can you afford the fines for not complying with Section 609 certification?Engine cooling fans-enough time? → After January 1, 2018, Section 609 certification is required to purchase refrigerant Posted on October 9, 2017 by macsworldwide 5 Votes
Please be aware after January 1, 2018 a Section 609 certification card will be required to purchase R-12, R-134a, or R-1234yf cylinders of 2 pounds or more. Distributors will be required to keep records of certified technicians purchasing refrigerant. Click here to read the regulations on the EPA website. Click here to learn about and obtain Section 609 certification from MACS Worldwide. Cost $20. Click here to learn how to replace missing or lost Section 609 MACS or IMACA credentials. There is a $10 replacement fee. If you are already Section 609 certified your credentials are good for life. There is no mandatory re-certification required by EPA, however the Section 609 training program was updated as of 1/1/2015 and includes information on the new refrigerant R-1234yf. If you’d personally like to expand your knowledge visit our website and download the study guide. Click here to learn about EPA Fines for not being Section 609 certified see CAA fines. Maximum daily fine $44,539.

Sounds like a left over Obama rule Hopefully Pres. Trump will reverse this one too Do any of you on here remember the big concern about the hole in the Ozone layer in the southern hemisphere, supposedly caused by Freon back in the mid 1980s ? Another environmental hoax

Around here it seems like weather ppl can't even predict the weather 1 hour ahead of time, LOL!!!!! So true... We have a local station now giving 10 day forecasts. Useless information. My wife calls it "more fake news".

It depends on where you get your news as to weather you believe the ice caps are melting. When ice melts in a glass of water does the level of the water rise?
They are always going to be melting and refreezing with or without our help.

Now I'm going to have to do a dining table experiment to test this. An iceberg (which is fresh water) floats in an ocean approximately 10-13% of it is above the ocean. So when it melts it displaces about 13% more of the of the iceberg into the ocean. Ice in a glass of fresh water floats even with the level of the water in the glass, thereby not displacing any more than the cube itself. We all know that salt water has more buoyancy.

My memory may not have this correct, isn't sea water, salt water, denser and heavier per gallon than fresh water? What happens to the salt when sea water evaporates from the massive solar flairs AKA, our world purifies sea water through evaporation and returns it to us as fresh water 2/3, maybe it is 3/4, of the world is covered in water, correct The world population is increasing all over the world, who, which area, is doing the most damage to our planet I do know that the U.S. cleans up the air entering it from the west coast compared to when it leaves the east coast going towards Europe
