There is a 70 U-code Challenger R/T on eBay that has the window sticker shown and has A35 Trailer towing package listed. I've seen A32, A34, and A36 many times before in my 40 years of e-body ownership but never A35. Does someone know what this includes? Must be rare. Thx

Challenger

trailer towing packages usually had upgraded brakes, cooling, suspension & HD flashers - but since a 440 R/T already had brakes & suspension handled - just the HD flashers & 26" radiator/fan were upgraded

Well, the H51 A/C got you the 26" radiator. What exactly are HD flashers???? Looks like it cost a full $14.05 back in 1970.

Yeah Yeah Yeah,

Looking at the list, it is interesting that most of those items were already part of this H51 U code R/T. The exceptions being (from what I see):
* Trailer towing wheel
* Variable load turn signal flasher
* Heavy duty stop lamp switch

And I'm not totally clear on what those items are compared to what were the "standard" versions. Can you enlighten me oh great master? smile

Every E-body broadcast sheet I have seen with A35 so far is for 14" wheel cars, but my 1970 Fury III with A35 has the HD 15" wheel, note that this version has a full center;

Interesting. So what do you think made for a trailer towing wheel? Extra welds? heavier material? On the A35 buildsheet what is the part number listed for the wheel?

I have a broadcast sheet for my Fury, but again, it has 15" wheels. They are 6" wide & have the full center, no part numbers stamped in them anywhere. The wheel code is W27 & 23 is indicated in the wheel section of line 4 for the road wheels & spare.

I'll have to check the 1970 E broadcast sheets with A35 I have, but I suspect the reason they have 14" wheels on the smaller cars is due to the only 15" spare option being the space saver.

smile That's okay. I was wrenching on e-bodies while he was watching the Kiss cartoons on Saturday morning so we know who the real master is smile

Interesting stuff. I would be interested to know what the 2 digit number is on line 4 under wheels/road for an A35 Challenger.

my '68 Charger w/trailer towing package had the 14x5.5" chrome "road wheels"
my '69 Monaco w/trailer towing package had the solid 15" wheels like Barry's Fury
my brother's '73 Charger SE w/trailer towing package had the 14x6.0" steel wheels (15" wheels were listed as N/A)

A Challenger R/T already has the HD 14x6.0 wheels STANDARD
& U82 tires are listed as N/A with trailer towing package

& the price break on the package is for E-bodies with 440 4bbl

customers that also selected A/C, paid for the upgraded cooling twice, although the trailer tow is more HD than A/C

Point taken, so this car would ALREADY have the heavy duty trailer towing wheel.

So that just leaves:
* Variable load turn signal flasher
* Heavy duty stop lamp switch

Any clue how these differ from what came standard on a challenger?

A35 - "trailer towing package" on a US spec. '70 Challenger R/T (JS) is around 60 units, of total production of more than 18,000 cars

I checked the 1970 E sheets with A35 I have available & all indicate W23 Road wheels except one but it is damaged in two key areas, so it remains a mystery to me for now.

I will keep an eye out for more examples though of course.

the '68 383 4bbl (non-A/C) Charger's 26" radiator had a part number not listed in any radiator "list" or parts catalog.

Barry, what do those same sheets show for radiator (& FAN/FAN SPA), anything other than 2998956 (16/70)? (engine & A/C?)

I will not put that level of detail out there due to a site with a decoder that people are reverse-engineering to make fake sheets.

Let the fakers wonder.

The variable load flasher might be longer than standard. At one time they were sold everywhere, but I haven't seen one in years.

I surmise the stop lamp switch had beefier wiring to handle the workload.

the '68 charger had those plug in flashers that are twice the size of a standard flasher, but I don't know if those were original to the car. shruggy

Barry,

What date code is on the wheel? What is the SPD on your car?

Early wheels have no part number.
