Going to look at a '71 440 six pack 'Cuda tomorrow. I will be looking for the obvious VIN stampings on the cowl, block, trans etc. What numbers would I be looking for on the Dana? Any other areas on the body/frame where there would be numbers? Any input would be appreciated.
May not have a dana to check. If it has the correct vin etc, no need to look at the dana. Your just trying to verify if it is a 6 bbl. It will not be a six pack.

It is a 4 speed car, and the pictures that I do have show the Dana in there. Yeh...I guess "6 BBL" is more correct than "6 Pack". By the way...what numbers on the data plate would indicate a Dana and what would the code be?

UPDATE!!!.....Numbers on the cowl, Fender tag, rad support and VIN dash tag all match, but I do have an issue with the door VIN decal. It says manufactured 10 - 70. The fender tag says "B02" which I take to meaning November 2nd. Is this possible? or do we have something fishy here? Except for the engine not being numbers matching , this car looks to be real. I'm just a little confused by the difference in the dates.

I do not think your door vin is bogus. Nov. 2nd 1970 was a Monday. Your car could have easily been built the last day or two of October. Remember the SPD date on the tag is a scheduled date. Not an exact production date.

I was hoping that was the answer...it makes sense. One more question.....I am not positive that the car originally came equipped with a console. Being a 4 gear car, it's possible...and the current owner wasn't definitely sure. One of the number sequences on the fender tag must show that.....which is it? The replies here are greatly appreciated!!

It's been rotisseried....and is nice. It's Curious Yellow with black billboards and black interior....new upholstery etc. I seen the torque boxes at the rear spring eyes, but neglected to look up front. No skid plate if I remember correctly. It's an A34 Super trac pack with 4 speed, E87, D21. I'm drooling over it! I need it like I need another hole in my head....BUT....!! It's negotiating the price that's keeping the deal apart. If it is what it is, whad'ya think?

My only concern would be why it's been advertised for months at a price extremely lower then most other 71 V code Cudas. In fact it was listed on EBay several times for almost HALF of what the other V codes have been listed for (mine included) and still NO ONE HAS TOUCHED IT WITH A TEN FOOT POLE I understand the quality of the restoration is poor in comparison to the other cars, but if it is truely a authentic V code car then it should have sold ten times over at that asking price. There was some talk about it on here before and I believe there was someone stating there was something fishy about the fender tag (reproduction maybe), but I can't remember what it was I think it's a steal at that price, but I rather pay more and get a GY3 shaker car like the one listed here on Moparts

It has 2 speed wipers.....totally missed the dash thing to tell you the truth...but I beleive it did only have the 7G tach....is that what you're refering too?
Yes, from the factory it would have 3 speed wipers and the 8k gauges with resets through the wood grain. The car may have been a shell when the restoration started and whoever did the car didn't know or care to put the right stuff back on it?

If it is a super track pack car it should have power disc brakes and the code on the tag (B51 I believe).
