My Friend has a 2000 Dodge Ram 1500. While he was out of state someone screwed with his truck and bent the hood hinges. I have not seen it yet ,but he said it looks like the factory welded the hindges to the fender well? He said he removed some bolts but it appears to be welded also? So what is the procedure on replacing the hindges? Thanks !!!!! Kev

I had a ford that the hood flew up and bent the hinges I think there were some spot welds I had to drill out. I was able to buy new ones from the dealer, but for dodge you would have to check.

Unless some hack did something to it at some point, the hinges are not welded on.

They are not welded from the factory. He may be looking at a form of seam sealer between the hinge and attaching surface. I have seen this from time to time. If all the bolts are out, it should wiggle free with a little force.

I just talked to him and he said exactly what you just mentioned. He at first thought it was weld but it is sealer ! Going to pick up both sides in the morning. $141.00 for one and $136.00 for the other. Thanks Guys !!! Kev
