I want your guy thoughts on putting a holley pro dominator tunnel ram with two 1000 cfm hp holleys on my 398 small block. i got all the parts laying around so maybe i should just try it and see how it goes... what do you think? the car is a duster with fully ported w2's 2.08 intake valves 13.2 comp. 630/650 roller cam 1 7/8 headers 3.79 crank.torqueflite with brake dana 60,,4.88 gears 32 tire.6000 stall..indy intake and one 1000 cfm holley hp..car with driver 2750 lbs and runs 9.70 with good air right now,,soooo do you think the tunnel ram will make me happier as in lower et's and would it be as consistent as it is now,,which is very consistent,,,,,thanks

I use to run the Mopar tunnel on the same motor as
you are... but I had 2 junk carbs. I am planning on
building sheet metal tunnel and using a pair of 1050s,
I hope they arent too much.... so I say...try it

Thats a strong running w2 motor, I'd say your combo is about dead on imo. Although I'm biased because I'm a believer to the saying "If it ain't broke don't fix it"

THe 1050's are probably going to be too big, but call quick fuel and get some info from them. A lot of people really like quick fuel carbs, especially the tunnel ram carbs they build.

I had them convert my 1050 dom to E-85 and if I do the
tunnel I'll have them do the other 1050 dom I have

I had one. I was really amazed at the driveability it had. It was hard on the fuel though with the center squirter carbs. But really streetable as far as behaviour was concerned. Never got around to plimbing it up properly, but the car went two tenths quicker and it was a stock stroke 340. As Mr.Peabody kinda noted, you need good carbs.

I can tell you about my setup - mostly street - some strip

back to back testing went 12.56 @ 106 with the t-ram and 13.2 @ 102 with a ported cast iron intake

2-390 cfm holley vac secondaries on the t-ram and a holley 780 vac sec on the single.

60' times were 1.74 with the t-ram
1.82 on the 4 bbl

mileage was 16 on the highway for the t-ram, never checked with the single

with 3.23's and in a street car the setup would act like a single 4, had the scoop not been through the hood you would never know !

In a race application I would never use the vac secondary
carbs again... fine for the street

When I called Quick Fuel about carbs for mine, they recomended dual 750 Annular carbs...Not cheap, but I am sure they would work very well. I currently run one of their 850 annular race carbs on an air gap intake, and I have to say its the best carb I have ever had.

Check out this Tunnel Ram Small block, talk about "Day 2", this was in the May 1972 Drag Illustrated magazine and it's a 1971 Duster!

I had the Weiand T/R also, it was a kit from
Summit and came with 2 / 450 mech sec. Holley's.
It was on my 67 Cuda. Stock 340 with a Lunati
BR II cam. 22 years ago it made for a cool
looking combo, and ran fine on the street.
Ran 12.20's at the track, and never ran it over
6200 rpm.

I think 2 Dom's are a bit much, but if it's all
you have, go for it.

Snap your neck, mega G-force launch, is all I want!
