One other variation is that superbirds had 2 ge bulbs and 2 westinghouse, cant remember for sure which were highs or lows, think highs were westinghouse. The headlamps on my Superbird all appeared to be original with correct date codes. All 4 were Westinghouse. Jim

I believe "4-8" is for April 8 1968.
Do others believe this to be correct? That would be my guess too but didn't know for sure. Incidentally, my SPD is September 10th 1968, so perhaps a five month vendor supply time?

The GE bulbs are just dated with month-year so 4 68 is April of 1968. When considering which type is correct, GE or Westinghouse, you need to think about WHERE your car was built. I have had a bunch of Lynch road cars and they all seem to be Westinghouse. This would include Superbirds. St. Louis cars seem to all be GE. All the musclecar area bulbs would be the wide flute design. I think the narrow flute didn't appear until 73-74 era. Also it is just needless to search for proper date codes as they are only ink stamped on the backside and you can't tell a 1965 bulb from a 1971 on the front side. Exactly - when and where matters LA cars I believe were Westinghouse.

I didn't think anyone within this thread stated they were actively searching for correct/matching headlight date codes? I was simply referencing the date code on mine to identify what may be an original brand/type to come on my car. That said, can you fill me in on wide-flute versus narrow-flute head lights? Not sure what that means?
