Thanks for the help on the other thread guy, I appreciate it. I don't have the heads off yet but a comp check shows I have 150 on 7 out of the 8 and about 15 on #3, squirting oil in it doesn't change it any. The valves are opening and closing like you'd expect. Heads are 346's.
I have a set of 906's that look pretty fresh that were given to me but since I didn't have them done I would probably have them ran through at a local shop. They don't look to have any port work done.
Question is, (long time to get here huh?) provided I find no surprises once the heads are off, should I bother with these or just get a set of assembled aftermarket heads that I know have hardened seats, ect? What would get me further?
This is a street/strip pump gas type car, 6 pack 4spd.
Again, need to watch $'s and am asking those that know far more than I.

I can't afford this. mark

Sounds like a garden variety badly burned valve(s) on #3. The cheapest alum heads would be stealths from 440source($899 I believe) & they would need to be checked out & I would guess will need work/parts before you run them especially since you will see some track time & your CR should be in the 10's(with good quench) to take full advantage of them(on pump gas)at that CR & with compression readings in the 150 range I'm GUESSING that you do not have either(right now) so I think I'd have the 906's checked out & go with them until such time in the future where you can afford a righteous shortblock along with the alloy heads
