Thinking about doing a low buck 318 stroker.....stock rods stock slugs just rebalancing the new Crank (maybe cutting the CW's for clearance if needed) for the stock 318 bobweight. The way it looks the factory slugs in my 1988 roller shortblock (30K original miles) are .110 down in the hole....with the new 3.51 vs 3.31 crank it should put her right at zero deck. This would make for a ~10:1 337" motor vs a maybe 8:1 318....if it all works out. BTW anyone know the approximate standard factory Bobweight of a 318 motor? I figured i'd square deck and deckplate hone the factory block to standard size and balance the existing rods/pistons with some new ARPs and call it a day. I bought a regrind cam (for $119.00) 236/240 @.050, .520/.540 lift....I figure I might need to Eyebrow the slugs a touch. I call this my 'lack of Stimulus' Package motor, probably gonna sell some laying around parts to fund the project

what happened to all the smallblock guys?? Think it would be kind of cool to build a 318 based bracket motor, thought about a 4" stroke but it' been a while so I think a 337" mini stroker would be kind of fun. Of course I could just go the 318 route with a set of the KB167's like Stve Dulcich did...the 3.51 stroke cranks aren't too hard to find so I can pick one up about as cheap as a cut down main 360.

This board is chock full of sb guys! I am rounding up parts to build a nice strong but reliable 360 right now. I have a 48° R1 block, 48° W2 heads, TD rockers, custom Ross pistons, blank cam core, Scat rods, and now my 3.58" lightweight scat crank is on the way.
I'm only shooting for 620HP, so that's pretty boring to most guys probably. My goal is to run low 10's just about anywhere and maybe a tip-toe into the 9's on a good day I'm more thrilled with the wheels up launch, so I will continue to focus more on that!!
I'll probably start on the heads in the next couple of weeks, so I'll post some pics and info when that happens. I like short stroke engines generally, they rev quick and seem to e.t. well compared to strokers...

I am not ryan or brian but I do know the 59* angle is left from the poly motors. PR angle is not near as bad on them and they kinda go through a notch in the block. You can put LA heads on a poly block but not the other way around, at least not without a lot of grinding, welding, an more grinding.

Hey, Wise I have a New MP 4529711 3.55 stroke crank I will sell cheap. I am sure that it will not hurt those pistons to be above the deck a Wee bit.
How cheap????

Built pretty much exactly what you are describing. Used some low compression truck pistons 040over though. Nets to a 344. Can probably provide you dyno numbers by the end of the week.
It is running and seems fine currently.

Dont forget to factor in the cost of an 8 bolt flex plate or flywheel with that crank. I believe they were all 8 bolt.

correct, they have 8 bolts on the flexplate. Needed to get the right B&M-plate
