Has anyone out there ran the combination of the small block Indy Edelbrock heads (with the offset rockers) along with a hydraulic roller cam? I'm having major issues with the clearance for the push rods through the heads. The owner of Indy heads told me he never considered the combination and has no idea if it will work.

I run those heads with a flat tappet hydraulic and I can see you might have a problem with the shorter pushrods and steeper angles needed with a hydraulic roller. Where are you having the tightest fit? I ground extra clearance on mine just in case I decided to change rocker arm ratios or pushrods in the future.

The tightest fit is on lower inside portion of the pushrod hole. I don't know if I can even grind off enough aluminun to gain the clearance I need. I don't want to grind the hell out of it and find out it's not going to work anyway. I don't want to get rid of my roller cam if I don't have to. I'm hoping someone else can tell me they've done it and it'll will work.

Anytime you run any type of LA cylinder head with small pushrod holes on a Hydraulic roller lifter that has a very high pushrod seat location, you are going to have to enlarge the pushrod holes significantly. Why do you think 308 & 302 heads have very large pushrod holes compared to any other factory iron head ever?

Get out the grinder & make it happen.... it will work.

I have those heads on a 9.350 deck with a solid roller and 3/8 push rods had to do a small amount of work with the die grinder.

I'm also concerned about the extreme angle of the pushrod. Small block Mopars have an extreme angle from the factory and then you add the longer lifter and the offset rockers and it's amplified even more. Is this ok also?

a w2 motor has more angle than these do should be fine

I run a hydraulic roller with the standard Edelbrock heads and had to clearance them to get the 5/16 push rods to clear.

And yes the push rod angle is not pretty but it does work. Have you ran your oil pump and made sure you don't have oil hemorrhage issues around the lifters at max lift? That is a common problem with the retrofit roller cams in the small blocks.

I already ran the engine with the hydraulic roller cam and lifters. I had performer rpm heads and just changed to the Indy Edelbrock heads with the offset rockers and relocated push rod holes. It really looks as if it won't work, but I guess if others have done it it must.

This is how far they are off. The pushrod hole is so far off, the tip of the pushrod can not even seat in the lifter and you can see how far off it is to the rocker.

WOW I didnt have that problem I am running a 3/8 push rod and they fit but they where rubbing a little didnt take much grinding for them to clear.

Did you use these same rockers from Indy? I think I'm missing some spacers between the rockers and the shaft mounting posts. Besides that some of the rollers don't even turn.

Wow that is really off, i didnt expect to see that. I think you have the right idea to try and use a offset lifter. How big are your lifter holes? I know you can get .180 or .210 offsets with a .903 hole.

I called Comp Cams, they don't make an offset hydraulic roller lifter. I'd hate to have to get rid of these lifters, I paid $700 and they only have about 1000 miles on them.

What is the offset on the intake rocker arm. I know the Indybrocks require a different intake rocker arm but the offset on yours look the same (intake and exhaust). Probably just my old eyes.

We had the same problem with a set of w5s with a hyd roller, I did not think I could grind enough and not go thru the port wall, The angle starts to change a lot when you start grinding, It looks funkey but works
