My NP 435 is needing some attention, so I would like to get an NV 4500 overdrive and don't know which vehicles came with one. I know they were in 2500 and 3500 gas and diesel trucks. I also know the input shafts differ between the gas and diesel (as well as v 10s) but I didn't know if any of the 1500s had NV 4500 or were they all NV 3500s? I am interested in the 4WD models. Any help is greatly appreciated.

1st year in a dodge was 1992 in 2x4 and 4x4, but behind 5.2 only. It gets sketchy in 94 on what used what in a 1500, but most were nv3500s if 5.2 after 94. If it had a 5.9, should have a 4500. Used thru 2005? behind assorted engines, including 5.7.

Bellhousing is unique to 4500

Bellhousing differs gas to diesel

As for swapping, need the bell, hydraulic clutch setup, move shifter position in floor back, longer front sdriveshaft and shorter rear driveshaft.

Certain transfer cases may not mate to 4500, but 241 will and easy to get/swap in

So in 1992 the 5.2 had a NV4500? So there was not other engines that had it?
I have come to the conclusion that if the 1500 had a 5.9 it might have had a 4500 but I can't get a confirmation of that. I want to buy a whole truck to get all the needed parts for my 84. I was hoping that some 1500s might have a 4500 so it might be cheaper/easier to find a donor truck.

Yes, I own a 92 with a 4500 and 5.2. In 92, the 5.9 was still TBI, so no 4500 in a 92 5.9.

Don't know if available in a 1500 5.9 from 94-02 but its a rare bird for sure- not a ton of gasser trucks of any GVWR made with the 4500.

Don;t think you can use a diesel 4500 either without chnaging input AND output shafts to get the spline right for the 241. Since you have a 84, I'm not sure if a 208 bolts to a 4500.

they are also in the 94 up 2500 trucks-----the 1500 run the 3550 no granny trannys---you also need the bellhousing to match.....
