I wonder if that's Steff's old car? He started out with a B 1 in it??? This car was built in the '70s and has been owned by the same guy for 20+ years.

I wonder if that's Steff's old car? He started out with a B 1 in it??? Not same car. This car has sat since early 90's per current owner, and was repainted orange w white RT stripes. Current owner wants 90k, not an original hemi car, was 383 car. Somehow I never saw this car in person at races or on street, maybe at autorama, can't remember. I first heard of the car thru the magazine article. Too bad I didn't win the lottery last week, or this car would be in my garage. I saw it for sale last night on the Milan buy n sell facebook page.

A friend of mine bought the car minus engine and trans from Steve in the late 70's. He made some changes to it and then it sat for awhile. I don't remember who he sold It to. May be the current owner.
Be aware that years later I got a phone call from someone in Texas that was trying to clone his car to look as much like steves as possible so there may be a car out there somewhere that looks more like steves car than what the real one does.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. In practice, there is.

Did Mike Fons build the car for Lisk? Since the original hemi & Lenco are gone, whats in it now? Yes mike fons built it. When I asked why the ladder bars were so short I was told that the car was built with parts scavenged from a wrecked hemi colt. No idea what engine and trans are in it now. I think I remember that steves brother wound up with the hemi and lenco.

I know the car & have seen it around here & there over the years. Autorama, Woodward etc. Cool piece of 70's history. I have an article around somewhere of this car up against Jack Roush's old Street version of his Pro Stock Mustang II.

I had that Hot Rod article hanging on the wall for a long time. One of the baddest street cars ever built. Would be fun to own that car and cruise thru the Nats with it. Or take it on power tour or something. People would go nuts to see that car out driving around. Everyone who read Hot Rod in the 70's knows that car. This is the one I remember:

This fires up the storm about who owns the original "Bullet" and who owns its rightful original drive train. I have read in alot of places that nobody owns the original bullet cars and both cars (Mustang & Charger)were both destroyed a long time ago and that any around today are just fakes.

x2. The Silver Bullet original car is owned by Harold Sullivan in the Detroit area. The original engine is owned by somebody Downriver if I remember correctly, and is installed in a Silver Bullet clone.

Is the Silver Bullet the Mustang TWO that was a top end road racer (start racing at a over 40 MPH roll on a freeway in Detroit featured in one of the mid 1970s magazines? 460 Ford powered is what I remember now, not a 351 Cleveland motor

Who is Lisk? What year and type is the car and its history? Really, Cab? Didn't read Hot Rod much, I guess. J/K, Cab. I think Lisks Challenger started my dreams of owning an E-body. I second the notion that if I had won (or might still ) the lottery, that car would be mine. Wasn't Fons involved in a black Hemi Volare build after Lisks car that was quicker than the Challenger? The name Lisk didn't ring any bells for me, but I do remember that car.

There may have been 2 Volares, or the one in question was rebuilt once. I remember the Van Smith '77 from Detroit, it was black with a bunch of purple anodized parts on it, was built by Steve Grebeck, and had a B1 motor in it with a lenco if I remember right.

The other black volare predates grebeck by at least 10 years. I think the other one had a gold anodized interior.

I always thought that was a real cool car. I also remember it well, IIRC, isn't this THE car that started the whole "Pro-Street" craze of the late 70's/early 80's?

Tim I lived in the Mojave desert and didn't buy any magazines until after I got out of the Army in 1968. I ended up later getting to know a lot of the SO CA drag racers that where partially sponsored by Mopar in drag racing including John Dieanna(SP?) Joe Alread, Bob Lambeck, Mike and dick Landy and so on through racing my M.W stocker in NHRA stock. I found out over the years that a lot of the writers for the car magazines didn't know the difference between a torque wrench and a camshaft Many false information stories that lead many of their readers to a lot of fustrations and repeating lies My message is I don't subscribe to any magazines now, hands on learning is way better than reading a article written by someone who is not a car guy

I witnessed Steve Lisk make a run at Milan Dragway back in the mid 1970's, he ran 9.70 @ 140 MPH...unlike todays "Grudge" racers his et was known to everyone. I think he was running some spray during that run as well. Cool car for sure!

Going from a partly leaky memory... - Lisk's car was fitted originally w/ a 3-speed Lenco, although may have been upgraded to a 4-speed as mentioned in the caption for the picture above. - An article I came across sometime w/in the last year or so talked about the routine that car went thru on a regular basis, including FREQUENT replacement of rod bearings (possibly the mains, too). That was a seriously high-maintenance beast to keep on the street...

My Challenger is built to be a lot like this car. I also have dual Holley dominators on a Hemi for on the street. Old school with a flare of all of today technology also.
