I am attempting to refinish the tail panel (on trunk between taillights) on my '69 Barracuda.

What paint code / shade of red goes on them? Mine had been stripped of all paint when I got the car, any help appreciated!

Im not 100% sure but my queses is they would you a color that was current for the year which would most likely be R4 for 69.

I had a 69 Cuda and a 67 hemi gtx at the same time. I had to repaint some of the red on the GTX tail panel, so I compaired it to the 69 Cuda, which was a 40k mile original car. They were the same red.

I went to Ace Hardware and found a perfect match in airisol. It was a tractor color, like International Red. Kind of dark, but not orange like R4.

It matched what was on the T-light bezels on the GTX. The GTX was a 27K mile car and original also.

If its Darker they may have used R6. If you can match to a spray can that would would be a easier and cheaper route to go.

I did mine with rustoleum spray bomb red(been on there 3 years now)

The color should match the taillights, it's intended to make it look like the taillights go all the way across. '68s had an optional reflective red tape stripe across the back.

I went to NAPA and bought some tail light tape and installed it, was cheap and very fast to do and I think looks better then the paint. Matched great...Phill
