Is there date coded power steering return hose available that does not soften up, swell and begin leaking? I have purchased hose from two different vendors with the same result. At this point I don't care that much about date codes as much as I care about a hose that is reliable.

After my bad experience with date coded hose like you, I would never get one. I bought Gates return hose from Rockauto.com. Don't get 3/8 like some parts books say. Get 11/32 which is correct size. 3/8 was slightly too big. 11/32 was just right. Gates #362870 is a 24inch length for $9.29 at Rockauto. They sell 12" length #362860, but I got 24" for extra hose. This is dedicated ps return hose.
