can you share VIN and or pics of the ones without rivets?

I grabbed this one really quick. The other car I believed to be rivet-less has rivets (doh). Let me check my backup hard drive to see if I am mistaking it for another car. It might have been a Belvedere II convertible from NJ.

The VIN attached is from out here in OR. I can dig out the certicard for this one too if you'd like.

lol my "several" has quickly turned to a quantity of one. Reading this thread makes me think it was either a supply chain (rivet shortage?), machine breakdown, or tag error work-around.

I'm shooting pretty wide here.

This would be an example of a 67 VIN to help illustrate your point above sir.

Look how early the vin is, probably August built. From St Louis and they built many cars.

No broadcast, I'll dig out the certicard when I get back to the shop in a bit.

Edit: I'll add all of the interesting stuff I found in the glovebox of above car. This is by far the nicest certicard I have ever had:

You would be incorrect.. I know for a fact that screws were used at least till the early 1950's by Dodge and I believe on Chevy trucks through 1963..

you are correct through the early 50's concerning dodge.. i was referring to 60's era cars. i can't comment on GM or ford however.

Seems odd they would weld the tag in place when it obviously has holes to rivet it on? Are those scratches coming from under the tag?

That is what was done in 1965 and this is an August 1965 built 1966 car. This is what the whole post is about.
