Just installed one yesterday when I put my motor in and absolutely never again. Had to beat the floor to make room for the vent hump in the rear, and it still doesn't let the trans sit correctly, which caused the motor install to be a five hour ordeal. Then, despite the $500 price, the hardware is too long as stated before.

For the strap, the bracket is up on top...which makes no sense. I removed the two screws on the strap and moved them over one hole to move the bracket down.

Noone at CSR has ever installed one of these before or else they would correct the issues. Too many parts in this sport are overpriced and under engineered.

I've said this many times before. Eddyville IA June 2013, 65 ply trans blew and the carbon shield did nothing. Person almost lost the foot in this mess. The shield looked like a yellow ball of yarn (that was the Kevlar). The gas pedal did more than shield.

I will never use one and will continue to use a blanket. I find it hard to believe something as hard and thin as a shield could absorb that kind of energy. I guess they do, but I'm never going to gamble on one. Not from what I saw.

I must have missed that as I did not know that. Thanks for the info as that is some very interesting info. Thanks. wave Ron

Darlington, SC, October 2008...my 727 blew in my cuda and the CSR shield saved my feet. It blew the shield up into the floor, pushed the floor up against the brake pedal. Nothing came through the floor. They swept my trans up off the starting line. The shield was in bad shape afterwards, but it looked a lot better than what was left of the trans.

Its good to hear that it saved you. Everyone should understand the danger in that tranny.

I've heard a blanket is hard to install. Not really. Lower your tranny a little, drape it over the top, wind the ends around the torsion bars, and secure there. Two bolts in the bell housing to keep it from sliding down. Heck, my blanket is somewhat pinched in there and is out of sight as well. And no, never had heat problems. Probably keeps heat out of the cars inside.

Use something. Me myself, I am for the blanket.

I have a blanket on mine and it was not to hard to install. Basically I did just what SportF said as I took the trans crossmember bolts out and lowered it a little and slipped it in. Ron
