Mine was missing when I got the car; and I can not figure out how it goes on.

The way I think it should go it interferes with the secondary hood latch.

Before I cut the brand new seal, I was wondering if I have it installed correctly?

None of my cars have them, or any of the hoods I have - which appears strange - was the front seal an option?

Your hood should have small holes predrilled in it for the seal. The holes are for the spring clips to slip into. They lay out where the seal goes. Sometimes it's a tight fit around extras, such as hood pins.

Does it sit on the rib going from left to right or under that rib? - I will fit both ways in the holes.

Also, does the "cup" of the seal point toward the front?

Here is a pic of it on the hood, here it is cupped away from the front, with this it interferes with the secondary hood latch - do I need to cut the seal around this or am I off base?

I looked in the FSM and I could not find anything about the hood; I looked on ebay for hoods / cars and no pics of this area... I am at a loss for how this fits?

It was not on the car when I got it.

I just looked at the one that came off a 70-71 dart and it isn't cut in the middle for the latch.

Do you have any holes on the backside of the raised area in your picture? I think that it attaches on the backside of that raised area and not on the flat surface next to the latch.

Yes the holes are on the the back side of the left to right support; the seal can go this way or toward the back.

Does the seal "cup" toward the front of back?

Thanks!

I took mine off the hood, but here is a link to an ebay auction that shows a picture of the weatherstrip on the hood of a dart. Hopefully this helps.....
