Flex plate = piece that connects crank shaft to torque converter Lifting plate = piece that bolts onto intake manifold inplace of carb that you hook your engine hoist hook onto. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif) You can just lift it by that to just take the weight, and have a jack, etc under the trans to hold it's weight yet not try and lift up on it, then unbolt the two. You want to try to keep them parallel while you seperate them if you can, helps keep it binding on the dowl pins.

I thought you ment a lifting plate that you had ? It just bolts onto the intake using the 4 carb mounting holes.. ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wrench.gif) PS. Don't forget to remove the 4 torque convertor bolts of course (unless you already have ![](/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbs.gif) )

Thanks again, I wasn't sure they'd be strong enough to hold it. Jim
