1:What is the budget?
2:What kind of horsepower are you looking for?

Another question is,what is your skill level.
For durability,a bottom end upgrade is recommended, crank, rods and pistons.
The heads with a little work should be good.
Would suggest a cam to optimize the turbo.
A quality head gasket is mandatory.
A hi flo oil pump to keep things healthy and cool.
Also there will be other upgrades required, ignition, fuel delivery, carb or fi.
And a variety of fab work.

I've got a 318 magnum at mine and from what I've seen you'd be better off swapping it for a 360 which is what i plan to do

The 5.2 Mag motor should need little in the way of beefing for turbo use.

Crankshaft stock cast iron is plenty strong.
Rods are also stout, are the same as the 5.9 Mag motor which can get to 500hp naturally aspirated.
Pistons should be forged and I'd look to keep the dual squish design but with a deeper dish to drop compression from the stock 9:1. They'll cost you some dough.
Block is OK.
Hydraulic roller cam would need changing for a turbo-specific grind.
Exhaust manifolds possibly could be reused or turbo specific headers would be better
You need an intercooler
I think the stock beer barrel intake would be restrictive and would suggest either the MP single plane FI intake or maybe a converted carb intake.
Heads I'd use the EQ heads or possibly an aluminum head like the Edelbrock Mag head. Or ProMaxx or ???
I guess I'd go aluminum to cut down on detonation risk.

For a clutch I'd suggest a 12" Borg & Beck or diaphragm.

To double the horsepower you need about 15# of boost and that ain't peanuts.

I like the small engine hi pressure turbo for economy. But it's a lot easier making 500hp from a 408. Most of us don't use that much power every day, going smaller engine should let us drive more affordably, while the turbo is there for the times the grunt is needed.

Don't overlook a tranny upgrade of about $1500/$2000
