I had this in the race section with no replies So Ill try here.

Hey guys, Im going to buy a set of roller rockers and was wondering which would you recomend and the order in which to determine the pushrod length

I am considering the Comp Pro magnums which use ball/ball ends. I would like to do the whole swap in a day and need to know how to get the correct length pushrods. Is this something that can be done before having the rockers in place?

Or after install I need to measure for the pushrods and then order?

it is a 440 with 346 heads, milled .060 and it is a 533 MP hydraulic cam ?

any suggestions?, tips?

Thanks henry

You need to get the rockers on there and measure.

To get an accurate length this is the way you will have to do it .

Thank you, I thought so But I am a bit impatient when I do this type of thing, I hate having to order and install something just to order something else to finish.

Unfortunately if you want to do it RIGHT thats what you have to do .

EDIT .... I just saw the heads were milled .060 , without knowing if the block has been decked AND if the the currect lifters are EXACTLY the same as the originals you would be rolling the dice on ordering a set ahead of time.

I see you are in West Palm , I was there on saturday ...

Just order the crane push rods for hydraulic lifters
with adjustable valve train and go on with your life.
People hear like to make simple things way to complicated for a mostly stock combo.
I think these are them

worst case you may need to shim rocker shaft up a bit but I highly doubt it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would measure first. The comp cams rockers need to have the adjuster's oil groove aligned with the rocker body's oil hole. If the push rod is not the right length the adjust may have to be turned out too far. This could result in blocking the oil to the push rod not to mention stressing out the adjuster. Every engine combination is different, that is why you need to measure. Do it right the first time and be done with it.

I would buy the crane gold rockers and the pushrods for hydraulic nothing fancy needed and has worked better than great for me and my friends in the past.
Adjust your preload and forget them

I just went thru this with some Comp rockers. After some carefull measuring I determined that with 1 or 2 threads showing on the bottom of the adjuster screw the oiling groove in the screw was barely lined up with the oiling hole drilled in the rocker itself. In my case it won't matter as my hyd roller lifters have pushrod oiling and the pushrods are also drilled.

I have about 1 thread showing and from what I could see the oil hole would line up. 2 threads and I think its starts to get blocked, at least on the set I have. I run push rods with holes and lifters that oil too so no worries here. Comp really should have something about the push rod oiling in their instructions.
