I have been told by some people that my Duster will run out of fuel at top end. My set up is as follows. 418 CI small block. Ported Edelbrock heads. 750 Holley carb.and a 3.91 gear. I am currently running a high performance Carter mechanical pump, not sure wich one it is. So far I have not noticed any issues but it has been street driven only and has not had the chance to see any high speeds were I am told the problems will occur. I dont know if I should get another higher volume mechanical pump or should I go to electric. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

you have to remember when choosing a pump is that most are rated at free flow rates so if its listed at 110gph its going to less under load. my suggestion is to get at least a 140gph and a regulator or slightly bigger so as to keep the bowls full.

I would bet your Carter hi po pump will do just
fine. A 1/2" fuel line would help. We ran a holley
Blue pump on an 8 second front engine dragster.
Also worked on my 600 HP 440.

The best pump? I would have to say a BG 400.

currently 3/8" line I am assuming. I would put a fuel gauge inside w an isolator & see what you have for psi(want at least several) at the end of the strip, you may(& I think you will) be Ok as is & if so you can leave it alone & move onto other issues that need to be dealt with. My

My son and I both run the Holley red pump on our mid 11 street cars. It works great as they pull fine up top with no problems. I like it for mild 11 second cars as it has built in regulation so you dont have to mount a regulator under the hood. Ron

I run a Holley electric. I like to be able to correct the psi. For the price you can't go wrong. My body just put a summit electic pump on his cheby. Belive it or not he has more money into his 383 than I do in my 451.

In other words I would go with an electric, plus you need a filter before the pump, and after before the line runs into the regulator.

Hope this helps make a desition.
