any suggestions as to where to pick one up?

440 4 3769123 22.85 overall 13.25 housing thanks for that! interesting, as I looked at those, I would think the 6 pack cable would be the longer one. both the center 2 bbl and the 4 bbl sit in the middle of the manifold, but the primaries of the 4 bbl would sit farther back toward the firewall, as from front to back it is a longer dimension than the 2bbl. anyway, I'll try and look those up.

Not sure , I went from a 4 Barrel to a 6BBL on my 69 RR 4 Speed with a 440 and used the same cable !! Same here, always used the stock 4 bbl cable when going from 4bbl to 6bbl be it on a SmBlk, B,Blk or HEMI 6bbl induction, 68-70 Body, 71-2 Body, or 70-4 E body

good resource, thanks! they do list a separate cable for the 6bbl and the 4bbl. same price, so why not? I'll go with the 6bbl.

I've been through this twice. My car came 383 4bbl. and I swapped in a 440+6. What I found (been a few years) is that the stock 4 bbl. cable did not have enough "throw" for a six pack. What I mean by this is that the length of exposed metal cable on the carburetor side was not long enough to fully open the center carburetor.
Also, the E-body & '71-up B-body six pack cables (available from Direct Connection since the late 80's) have a square plastic plug where it goes through the firewall & my '70 has a round plug hole.
There may be accurate reproductions today. I've also wondered how hard it would be to get a long'ish cable & trim back some of the outer black plastic to get enough "thow" for a six pack.
Both times I replaced mine I bought a used original part.

This is from Bill-A/gtx6970
Very interesting. From what I recall, the metal end (carb side) labelled as "S" in that diagram would hit the carb side of the outer cable (right side of what is marked "H") at about 85% of throttle opening of the center carb. I'm pretty sure the throttle cable on my '70 383 was original....but not positive. I'm also pretty sure that the A-12 throttle cable is the same as a '70 six pack. I'm curious why I see TWO six pack throttle cable numbers in Big E's chart.... is one (3418840) the '70 (round hole) and the other one (3418846) the '71 (square hole)? I would tend to think so since the 3418846 number lists "440 3x2 & 340 3x2" and since they only put the 340 3x2 in E-bodies.
