I am buying this. Its a 1970 sweptline crew cab, short bed. I get just the body, bed front clip with no title. Its sitting on a ford chassis that the owner is keeping. I have always wanted to do a diesel truck chassis swap but recently I have decided I just want a gas truck. I have a 2005 dually diesel one ton and a 2012 one ton diesel, both Dodge obviously as I am not stupid. With no plans to get rid of either diesel I think a nice four door gas rig would be nice. And since I live on 175 acres on gravel roads, I am thinking 4x4. Im still looking for a short bed swepty hotrod project.

That said I just decided this, so I need to check the wheel bases ect and then decide what year and mod gas rig is best that could be had on the cheap.

so in attempt to not reinvent the wheel and use someone else toil and trouble, I am looking for threads, web pages and links to such swaps that may have been done by folks on here?????? Also trying to decide on EFI carb ect.

THOUGHTS?????

Shorty sweptline project??? PM Al... he's had one at his place in Vegas for a long time. Then you could come down in April to MaTS with a large cooler of beer to pick it up smile

I would love to hit MATS, I have not been since I moved from Northern Nevada to Idaho four years ago. But Im starting a home build on the edge of my pond as soon as the weather and mud permits and as far as the shorty project, I am checking ranches ect up here as it needs to be a cheapo. I know of a short bed truck with utility bed and rusty rockers for $200 in the Boise area but it would need a lot. But who knows I may grab it and piece together a build.

Looks like the wheelbase is 146 inches on the swepty.

154.7 inches on a 1997 era club cab long bed. looks like the era or gen of rig that would be close for a frame cut down.

I have an 03 quad cab, short box, 2x4 sitting here, a quick wheel base measurement looks like round 131" (its hard to measure a long WB truck by yourself).

146" WB on a short box crew cab swepty sounds pretty long to me, 146 might be an 8' box crew cab swepty. Where's Rhinodart when you need him? Gene

shorter would be better. The only figure I see is 146 inches. I will look some more and see if I can find anther figure.

146 is correct for a short bed crew cab. 160 is late 65-71 long bed crew cab (pre-69 was special order). 156 is 62-early 65 long bed crew cab (special order-frames stretched off assembly line).
