I've got what I believe are early W2 econo heads with the single LA bolt pattern and an Indy 360 intake. When I purchased them through a forum member he was kind enough to send me 3 sets of new MOPAR intake manifold gaskets he had lying around.

This will be a boosted application (only about 12-15PSI max) and I am wondering which of these, if any, I should use. It appears the only difference between the 3 part numbers is the thickness of the gasket.

P4007571, P4120211 and P4120210

What do you guys think?

Superformance makes a very nice gasket for the W2

Though it does not answer your question, X2 with the above.

Superformance W2 gaskets

Maybe mock up with what you have and see which ones line up the best.

I dont have my books with me but I think the 210
and the 211 are just a thickness difference.. not
sure about the 571... I picked up a few sets of
the Superformace W-2s for my junk.. they fit very
nice with the porting I did on mine

Willing to sell them? I may just go with them...although I already have 3 sets of Mopar W2 intake gaskets that I won't know what to do with (I guess I can always try Ebay LOL). If not, we should meet up at a show sometime if I ever get this thing running!

Mr. Pbody, thanks, the intake is ported so it might be a good idea for me to check the gaskets to the ports and see if the mopar ones overlap.

If I used the Mopar gasket, there any benefit to using the thinner or thicker one for a boosted application?

The gaskets I have are .062". I guess if you really needed them, I'd sell 'em. They're only $19 from Mancini though.

I'm no expert but I can't see how the thickness of an intake gasket would matter, boosted or not. As long as you seal the ends properly, line the ports up as best as you can and use quality bolts torqued to spec, you shouldn't have any issues.

If you're blowing properly installed intake gaskets out as a direct result of too much boost then I would figure it's time for custom gaskets rather than OTS stuff anyway.

Different thickness gaskets are generally for various machining operations, like if you mill a head, you might need a thicker gasket to seal the mating surfaces.

PM Greg from Superformance, he is a member here and great to talk to.

I usually start with one set of each thickness and go with what fits best unless milling is required.

Thank You Bad340fish and RMCHRGR

I have recently upgraded the material selection and thicknesses available for both the LA 4-bbl rectangular and the W-2 Oval port applications.
You can now get them in our Premium MicroPore-15 material in .031", .047" and .062" thicknesses.
W-2 port 2.100" tall x 1.415" wide

These are in fact so new all I have is a spy photo of them on our warehouse shelf whistling

EDIT:
P.S. Gasket thickness is used like a shim. If the ports on your intake sit low compared to the head you need to add gasket thickness. If they are sitting above with the gasket you have a thinner gasket will lower it for better alignment. One does not necessarily seal better than the other thumbs

Greg.. have you released those thicker W-2s
yet?... I had to glue 2 of your .031 together
to do what I needed

2 x .031" = .062"
I've always offered them in .062"
If you have .031" thick I'll assume they are not mine.....

Well that's a bummer. I mocked up the intake with the .060 mopar gaskets and with the bolts torqued down I still had at just under .030 of space.

I suppose I could glue two .045 or maybe two .060 gaskets together, but I don't know how that would work under 15psi of boost
I believe cometic makes .090 and .120 gaskets, but I don't know if they make them for w2's.

Greg, is there any chance you could make a custom thickness ?

Not sure I follow on the "just under .030 of space" shruggy
Different thicknesses can be laminated to get what's needed.
It's usually easier to go over this stuff VIA phone, your welcome to give a call.
