Looking at a set for sale on here. How much lift/spring pressure can they handle? Not 100% sure, but they may be 273 rockers.

Thanks! wave

I've launched mice, fireworks/bombs of all kinds, propaganda notes, marijuana seeds....a rocker? No problem.

I've used 273 adjustable arms on 2 different 340's.
One had a 525/305 comp hyd. cam, The other was Mopar 528 solid.
I had double springs, cant remember the pressure, etc.
I've heard of people using them on larger camshafts.
I haven't launched any though grin

I ran 273 iron rockers on my J headed 340 with a 557 lift mech. cam and iron ones on my W2 heads with a 627 lift roller cam then a 590 lift mechanical cam and never broke one or had a problem after many years and runs only replacing one adjuster once. Sorry dont remembe the spring pressure.

I've run them at 350-360 lbs open, but .474" in my Dart and under .600" on my old Challenger bracket car. While 273 rockers are good, I've always been concerned about the lack of a jam nut and machined surface to keep one flat. Crane or Isky may be stronger as well.

I've broken a couple over the years, mainly because of machining for spring clearance and possible help from valve float. That's why I switched to beehives with the same pressures.

With open pressures around the 375 lb range and lift around .550, I wouldn't sweat it Dennis. Think I would look at after market stuff if I were going over 400 / .600. I ran them for a while in 67 in a warmed up 273 with no problems. Never check accuracy though?

Thanks all, I'll give them a shot. I doubt I will ever use a cam with over .550 lift. They have jam nuts on them so they might not be 273 rockers.

I never knew they made a offset with that much offset to
run them on a W-2 head

I assumed he was talking about the iron rockers for W-2 heads. Made of the same [censored] as the Isky and Crane rockers.

I've been running 273 rockers for the last
15 years,same set.
The last few years SFT cam w/350 open pressure.
.575 lift, no problems.
Awhile back I added some oil grooves to the ID
to get more oil to the push rod cups.

Yes two different sets of rockers , 273 on the J heads and the W2 heads had a set of offset W2 iron rockers
