Nothing sounds better than fresh glass paks! Then they wear/burn out and sound poor.

Smithy's have that great vintage hot rod sound, but aren't for everyone.

Flow Masters and Magnaflow sound horrible at all times except for WOT, which you'll never be running at in real life anyway.

BUT,a single flowmaster 40 sounds about perfect on a stock engine. I just put one on my 87 318 and it's just right!

I have the Flowmaster performance exhaust on my 3.9 V6 Dakota. It sounds OK. I'm not into loud anymore, this thing has a nice, not over the top, rumble. I bought it online through Summit, cat back with tail pipe was around $165. Gene

I'm running a hooker aerochamber 3" muffler on my Dakota 5.9. It has just the sound you describe.

I put Smithy's on my slant six powered D100 and on my Ranger. They sound just right on a six cylinder, but I'm not sure about a V8 because I've never heard one.
