May not be the look he is after, but a flat hood, or a shorter cowl hood with a lexan scoop may be the ticket. Less obstruction of visibility.

I agree and maybe he can get away with having relief holes in the rear. Also the fact that this is a street strip pro-mod type effort, he might have issues with windshield visibility with such an obstacle up front. Not to hijack this but I just grafted a VFN scoop to a flat good and its a 5" scoop. I tapered it in the back down 1" and sealed it to to the carb. Just recently got to run it with no issues but is it too much air? Should I put relief holes in the back?

Just for comparison here's our 8 inch outlaw 6 pak scoop, a friend of ours is into the design side of the auto industry and is of the opinion that actually only the top 1/3 to 1/2 of the scoop is in clean air.
'74 Challenger..9.46 @ 145.9 1/4, 6.001 @ 118 1/8 so far. 4023lb !!! # N/A, Marsh performance 655ci, Indy Maxx, T/R, Indy 600-13 X's, Street legal, pump gas, full interior, Cal-Tracs, mufflers, 3:73's and real 10.5 radials. 9.51 @ 142.4 1/4, 6.003 @ 114 1/8 with our old mule KB, 572-13, 580 wedge. RHD '68 Barracuda Fastback 323ci street/strip. Best ET 13.88 @ 99.03
