Asking for a buddy. Who here or out there makes a good quality extra tall Hurst 68' Cuda/Dart Hemi scoop?
Something evil this way comes.

IIRC, he needs about an inch taller on the front portion by the opening and two inches on the back side. Engine is set back and manifold is tall. Hemi engine that is.

He might want to re-think that idea. I had one I made 2" taller to clear a Dominator on a B1 single in a 67 Valiant. The car was going 147 in the 1/4 at that time. It was like a parachute on the big end. Put a 5" cowl hood on and the car went 150+ with no other changes. Neither were sealed to the carb and the tall SS scoop had a good size hole under it. If he's really stuck on the idea, any good fiberglass shop can make the sides of the scoop longer.

I agree and maybe he can get away with having relief holes in the rear. Also the fact that this is a street strip pro-mod type effort, he might have issues with windshield visibility with such an obstacle up front.

Glasstek makes a nice 5" Hemi scoop.
Had to buy one to clear a tall Indy 3X intake...good quality.

May not be the look he is after, but a flat hood, or a shorter cowl hood with a lexan scoop may be the ticket. Less obstruction of visibility.

Not to hijack this but I just grafted a VFN scoop to a flat good and its a 5" scoop. I tapered it in the back down 1" and sealed it to to the carb. Just recently got to run it with no issues but is it too much air? Should I put relief holes in the back?

Just for comparison here's our 8 inch outlaw 6 pak scoop, a friend of ours is into the design side of the auto industry and is of the opinion that actually only the top 1/3 to 1/2 of the scoop is in clean air.

Depends on the speed as to how much air those scoops draw. I had a tall HEMI scoop on my GTX. Once the car got fast, the scoop tried to rip the hood off the car every pass
